Well im kinda new to this whole modding thing. Well when i was installing my new video card into my dell computer i just had the wonderful idea to put a window in place of the slide off thing to get into the case. Would this be possible to do and what kind of material do you use to make windows?

dremel (metal cutting bits)
plexi glass
molding
glue or screws to hold the window

it's probably all plastic so... good luck. You can cut plastic pretty well with a dremel and a rotozip bit but it's still going to be a pretty messy cut.

I just modded a Dell case for a friend. The side panel is metal, so it will cut nice. I just made a simple circle window where the big ugly DELL logo is and cut out some weird designs around it. Looks cool, will have pics.

thx for the info guys, but what im shooting at is making the entire side panel a window. Such as making a mold out of it and filling it. So it will be a removeable window .

go drink a big big cup of coffee and bust out the roto-zip, make sure you have a file for the aftermath .

What model is the Dell? What is the case made of?
The model is a Dell Dimenson Desktop 2400, and the case is made of metal. I was really low on cash at the time and we where having tough times (dad got in motorcycle accident couldn't work, mom wasen't physically able to work) so i just bought what i could afford. Its not a bad little computer but i got a job now and theres a few things i would like to do to it such as make a window in the case.

I also have another dell computer upstairs that is my moms computer. And well she just had her baby today and i was wondering if it is possible to transfer a dell computer to a new case, cause i have heard of transfering computers like gateway, and hp to new cases. Id really like to give her a new computer look when she gets home. :)

Yes it is possible, I have 3 dell cases sitting in the other room from dell users looking for more power. And I have another customer who just contact me about a "new" computer. LOL I love Dell owners, they pay me to make there dell not a dell.

The whole side pannel window idea is plausible, you would just have to bend the plexi in the back and drill screw holes. You might have to cut down the front to slide in.

JEEVES

Just buy one of those kits from www.frozencpu.com They come with the tools, the moldings and everything you need.

I did have a friend who had a lot of trouble cuttting his window into a dell dimension case.
