Anybody has any idea on how good the Dell W3000 LCD TV is?

I've seen it at my local mall and its incredible. Anybody has it or does NOT recommends it?

:)

Thanks

PS: Dell now has a 20% off!!!!!!!

I've seen OEM versions of the same monitor for around $1600-$1700 so at even 20% unless your set on the Dell name and badge the Dell 30" LCD TV aint worth it..

Check out Sceptre for one manufacturer of it.... I believe newegg carries it..

I have the Dell 23" LCD TV that I picked up for $1000 and its fairly decent...

So now that a few months have passed is anyone using the 30" model for their PC (Dell/equivalent)?

This is the first of these large LCDs that looks promising.

Also, Google is only giving me pages that don't load and bad matches for Spectre (which I assume is some kind of copyright/patent database?). Does anyone have a URL?

I have to be honest here, I sell a lot of LCD and Plasma TV and I have yet to see one that makes an acceptable computer monitor. It’s not that they don’t work, but they are designed from the ground up to be a TV.

I’ve seen lots of the Gateway and a few Dell’s and from a TV point of view I just wasn’t happy, neither were a lot of the people that owned them once they compared to other companies. IMHO it’s the price point they are trying to hit that is the issue. Better TV’s at this time simply cost more.

“Convergence” just isn’t quite with us yet. Just my opinion of course ;)

Bill, what about true 720p displays with DVI inputs, such as DLP, LCOS, LCD projection? Still keeping these in mind for an HTPC, but I want it to be a real computer as well (ie, web browsing, email, homework... whatever).

The problem is that TV signals aren't broadcast at the same resolutions that monitors look good at. So maybe you can get a tv that has good pc pip, or a monitor that has good tv pip, but not now & maybe never a high quality all in one.

I solved the problem by getting a Viewsonic VP201s monitor, and a Viewsonic N3000W lcd tv; Awesome combo!
