I am trying to upgrade the RAM in my cousin's Dell L800r PC. I had bought a 512 MB stick of PC133 DIMM and it failed. I then traded this in for 2 256MB PC133 SIMM's and they wouldn't work. I am now going to try the 256MB DIMM to see if this works.

Has anyone successfully upgraded the RAM in one of these PC's? I have been told that name brands is the only thing that works. Is this true?

From the Dell website they recommend 256MB PC133 chips but it doesn't specify SIMM or DIMM. I also checked Kingston and Crucial RAM websites and they claim either will work...

Anybody know what will work?
