Dell E248WFP vs 2407WFP-HC

I've been longing after the 2407WFP for a while, and I just noticed today that there's a new 24" monitor on Dell's (Australian) site...
Now I'm assuming it's not an 8-bit panel like the HC, but it's $400 cheaper ($599 rather than $999)... What's the catch?
I'm an avid PC gamer, mainly RPGs and some online FPS.
I'll be sitting pretty close to the screen... ~1m? Which would be the best for me in the opinion of those here?

Or would I be better going/saving for another option like the Samsung 244T I've heard good things about?
 
the more expensive one is the better spva panel i believe while the cheaper one is a TN panel.
 
Definately get the 244T if you can, though it will cost more then the Dell.

I will stay off TN panels at 24 inches due to the poor viewing angle.
 
Okay, what are the downsides of a TN panel as opposed to the SPVA? I'll be sitting right in front of it whenever I"m using it so I don't really care about limited viewing angles or whatever.
