Dell E172FP Won't Display Anything

I've got a Dell E172FP that will not display any sort of picture at all. When the unit is plugged in and turned on, the display will show up for a split second, and then go to a black screen. From then on, the monitor will switch between a black screen like it's off (w/ the power light being off as well) to a black screen when the monitor is on (w/ the light on of course).

I bought this off of Ebay used, fully aware of the condition/problem it had, and according to the previous owner, this just happened out of nowhere. The monitor is roughly a year old and looks like it's been well taken care of. There were no storms or power surges the night before. I've also replaced the power and display cables with my own. Any thoughts on what the issue is?

I didn't really get screwed. I knew it had this problem before hand, just didn't think it'd be this bad. I paid 120 shipped. Worst comes to worst, I'll just resell it on ebay as it was advertised to me
