I have a dell dimension 4300 what i want to do is flash the bios so my board will recognize my hard drive. Is there any way to do this. And maybe even overclock the cpu a bit. Its a p4 runnning at 1.8g, this is a second set up to my abit goodness.

Thanks

Can you give us some details on the hard drive in question? Also, the Dell BIOS won't let you overclock the CPU. The only way possible would be through software.

if you need to flash your bios in order to see a hard drive, you have bigger problems, lol...

and by that, i mean, i have no idea what you mean, did you get a new HD and the dell wont read the whole thing or it just doesnt detect it or what?

I have a western digital 120 hard drive. the bios doesn't recognize it but i can find it in windows. It shows up as having no space avail. my computer won't show though. i have to go through other ways to find it like device manager. What software would you recommend for oc the cpu. thanks

if its showing up in windows but you don't see it in the BIOS, I'm assuming you havent made any partitions on it. Grab a copy of partition magic or something similar, create a partition or two on it, and format them. Then you should get your usable space. For BIOS updates on dells, if you hunt through their download/support pages enough you should be able to find a link for them.

Thanks a lot i will look for something on there support page. also i was wondering about upping the speed on the cpu, any suggestions. i thought dell's mobo's wont recognize any other hd unless it is form them. I will diffently look for partion utilities

thanks
