The new xps gen 2 looks amazing!
look at the anandtech review. It is actually almost as good as a 6800 ultra desktop part.
BUT and here is the biggy, the 6800 go laptops were huge!
The xps 2 uses the dothan cores, and therefore it is almost a thin and light laptop!
it can manage 34.6fps at 1600x1200 with 4aa and 8af. that is pretty damn impressive for a freakin laptop!

It is hardly an oxymoron, but I suppose it's a matter of opinion. For someone who has to be on the go a lot or for various other reasons needs one machine, a high end laptop can make a pretty good gaming platform.

LOL, my laptop uses a dothan core and is neither thin nor light. Dothan laptops include thin and light, ultraportable and DTR (desktop replacement). You're only going to see go 6800s/go 6800 Ultras in DTR form factors.

BTW, the XPS2 is 1.67" thick and weighs 8.5 lbs with the battery and optical drive installed. Plus it's 15.5" wide due to the 17" WS display. :p

i agree the machine is impressive... but THIN AND LIGHT??? are you HIGH!? the thing is a slight improvement and runs a bit cooler thanks to dothan, but its still 8.5lbs! thin and light notebooks (read: portege) are often under 3lbs and less than .9-.8inches thick
