Dell 4550 - Prescott question

I was thinking about upgrading one of the Dell 4550 PC's in the office.
I got a 3.06Ghz P4 HT (Northwood) in the Dell Dimension 4550 just like it in my office.

I was wondering if I could put a Celeron D 3.06Ghz 256Kb (Prescott) in it.
I believe its an 845PE mobo. Anybody got any ideas ?
 
That was my gut feeling which is why I didn't just order the processor. But I did notice the latest BIOS A08 says updates to CPU microcode(doesn't say for which processors though). Which made me think MAYBE!

Especially since my A05 BIOS works fine with my 3.06Ghz HT.

The 3.06 HT is a Northwood. The Celeron D is a Prescott.

Just because it works with a Northwood, it has nothing to do with if it can deal with a Prescott. The biggest change with a Prescott, is actually the added power required, if it was just a BIOS change, every MB that could support the correct FSB would work. (but they don't, obviously)

My BIOS on the 4550 with the P4 3.06 HT is version A05 Dated 01-27-03

My point wasn't 3.06Ghz Northwood support = 3.06Ghz CeleronD Prescott support.

My point was my 3.06Ghz HT (Northwood) would have been the latest fastest processor if it only supported Northwood. BUT my A05 BIOS supports my 3.06 Ghz and HT. They've had 3 BIOS revisions since then, and at least one of them said CPU Microcode update. SO I was hoping that the CPU microcode update was for Prescotts, since I don't think any other Northwoods (that would require a microcode update) were released for 533FSB after the P4 3.06 HT.

Need to go check the dates on the BIOS's and see if they sold 2.8A or 2.4A Prescotts in any 4550 systems.
