Dell 4100 vs my Zip 100 drive

My Dell 4100 displays the following message on boot when I have my Zip drive in it at all: 'Error reading from disk. Press Ctrl + Alt + Del to reboot'.

Any ideas why? Also, my HDD read/write light is on 24/7. Tried switching the IDE cables around. No luck.

sounds like its trying to boot off of it, my guess would be to check the boot order, ive never used a zip drive. however my laptop has an ls240 man, thats one high tech floppy drive(they were out of stock on 1.44's and i was getting it for free)
