Dell 3008WSP?

I thought the backlight issues was solved when I ordered my 3008WFP back in December, but it wasn't.. I got more and more annoyed by this, until I got it replaced last week. The new one had pretty uniform backlight, but instead, a red, stuck pixel in the middle of the screen. Called again.

I'm now on my 3rd 3008WFP, and this one won't even give me a picture (it doesn't recognize signals from both my PC and my Mac). So, I called Dell yet again.

However, this time I gave them the option of refunding my money, and I asked them whether or not they had anything new coming up. While I didn't get a direct response to that one, the service guy asked me to hold for a few minutes before returning. He then found a screen in their system named '3008WSP' (yes: I had him spell it out several times to be sure). I haven't got ANY hits in Google on the exact phrase, and I wonder if anyone in these forums has heard of it before. When I asked about differences between WFP and WSP, he just answered that the latter was 'newer and better'.

I reckon it will be here Monday or Tuesday, so I will report back if it's just a typo in Dell's computer systems, or if it is in fact a new model.

What do you guys think?

I think you'll get another 3008WFP, although I'd love to be wrong.

Slight delay, was called by Dell and informed that ETA is now Thursday.

Anyway, I asked him about the model distinction 'WSP' again, and he confirmed that they had both WFP and WSP in their system, but he didn't know whether the WSP also went under the WFP-name on the 'outside' of Dell's internal systems. So I guess we'll wait and see.

Be sure to keep us informed. I just ordered a WFP at the sale price.

Did the rep mention anything about the pricing he sees for the two models? Perhaps it means they're changing panels as Anadtech accuses manufactures of doing.

definitely gonna be checking up on this. i want a dell 30", but after the recent price drops i thought that maybe a new model was gonna be released, and as you and others have said, thats very likely :)

when you say switching panels, do mean to newer better ones, or just to save money by switching to older crappier ones?

Well in the case of 30" the older panels are just as good as the newer ones. I had a XHD3000 and couldn't live with the input lag so I went to an older LP3065c and I LOVE it. It has under 1 frame of lag and it looks great.

Anadtech made a big stink when they found manufactures were changing out the panels without telling anyone. Eventually Anadtech dropped the issue because they got no traction, and it was debatable if the substituted panels were better or worse.

I went ahead and bought the 3008wfp at the sale price. The monitor gets good reviews, unless the monitor is for gaming and input lag is your top concern.

I figured the new monitor will probably be more expensive, and I could upgrade if it's really that much better.

UPS called me today, but unfortunally I wasn't home. I expect it to arrive sometime between 11-14.00 GMT +1.00 (Norwegian time zone) tomorrow.
I'll post up the revision number and a picture if it's any different from the previous ones.

Well... I've got the monitor. The S obviously stands for 'refurbished'. A02, nothing new.

The backlight bleed on this one is even WORSE than on the first I got. I am on the phone with Dell this very moment to get my money back, I don't have time for this.

Now, which 24-inch LCD + projector and screen do I get for the same price?
HP LP2475w and Benq w500/Optoma HD65?

Sorry to hear that, but when I realized where you live I figured it wasn't a new monitor. I don't think Dell introduces new monitors in Europe.
