I have been using my 3007 for the last 6-8 months at full brightness without even thinking it can harm the monitor on the long run. It alway got very hot at the back, but i ignorantly thought it was normal. Every time the monitor warms up, the plastic would crack. After an hour or so of use I would notice an image persistence on the top and bottom of the screen where the windows bars are. It looked like there was a gap between every second horizontal row of pixels across the screen on top 1/4 inch. Now I put the brightness down to 13 and the monitor does not even get hot and the image persistence is at the very minimum. I can still see a slightly faint image of the top and bottom bar if I have a black background on. I did not need the brightness to be at this level, I was just ignorant about it. My question is: Did I harm the monitor with this? Does anybody else have slight image persistence of the bars. I also get a single flicker every time the monitor warms up after about 5-10 minutes and never after that. I have not tested it with a different machine to see if it's card related. (7800GTX)
Any thoughts,
Dan
