I’m thinking seriously about getting the 3007WFP within the next few weeks – I’d like to see what my taxes look like first… Right now Dell has them for 15% off. I called Dell today with a pre-sales question & asked if they knew how long the discount was going to last. The girl I talked to didn’t seem very knowledgeable about things. I told her I was interested in the 3007WFP & was probably going to purchase within the next week or so. All she said she knew was that their promotions change on Thursdays & that I could do some preferred plan today & have no payments for a month or something. I told her I wasn’t going to do anything today.

I would think that she was just trying to pressure me & that they will have some kind of discounts going until they move most all of the older model out of stock. These things can’t be big sellers at these prices - even at current prices & hardware requirements. I’m not sure but I think the 15% off was on there before last Thursday also.

Question:

Does anyone here have any info along these lines on the 3007FWP Dell promotion? Is this probably the best price I can get on it?

Let me make clear that I’m talking about the older model, not the new HC or what ever it’s called.

Thanks
Shemp

I'm waiting until the HC comes out to purchase the existing model. I think Dell will reduce the price even further so another few days might be worth the wait.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

I don't know much about these coupons but I just looked thru 3 pages of them using the search string "dell coupons" & didn't really see any that were usable in this situation right now. Maybe I don't know what to look for but most of these look a little fishy to me.

I've seen the 3007 for 15% and 20% off, and the Canadian site had them for a flat "$500 off" (CDN, not US) at one point. Trust me--they fluctuate a lot and they often throw one-day events in there to boost sales.

Unless you need the monitor immediately I'd suggest holding off for at least another week, checking the site daily to see if any new deals get posted. I'd also try to find one of those 10% off coupons (assuming they all don't expire today) or just wait for the next Dell catalog to come out. I get it mailed to me and it usually has a few coupons or offers in it.

Thanks!

I think I'll wait a week or so especially as this fits my original plans. I'd just hate to lose that 15% off by waiting. I wonder if they didn’t have any promotions going in a week or two & I called up ready to buy & asked for the 15% off if they’d give it. I’d think they would.

There is no 20% off for 3007WFP if I am not mistaken.
15% coupon is only for the DPA customers with Dell creditline(Maximum of $5000).
You should buy one while 10% coupon is available. Sometimes you lose if you want too much. ;)

What I meant is that I have seen 15% off and 20% off in the past.... only 15% off is available presently (as the standard discount.) On top of that the 10% off coupons you can purchase off of eBay fit the bill nicely, otherwise wait for special sales (like for video cards they had a 25% off computer accessories once, that helped a lot of people get an 8800GTX around Christmas time.)

With Dell you'll always end up getting some % off their "original" purchase price... it's waiting a few days or weeks for them to offer a 1-day sale, or a coupon that works in your particular situation, that makes some of their products true moneysavers.

Oh you mean on-site discount? I thought you were talking about coupons.
I did buy a bunch of 8800s from Dell in december.
That was one awesome sale.

Thanks everyone for all the info. Yes, the 15% off I was referring to was from Dell. I didn’t see any coupons on eBay that would help. They were either not applicable to monitors in the case of the few 20% ones I saw or took the place of any automatic percentage off from Dell in the case of the 10% ones, which would be going backwards.

I’m in no hurry for the monitor, so I’m going to wait it out & hope for a sale.

The best price you will ever get is 15% off + stackable 10% off coupon.

640k is all you'll ever need.

Just wait until the new HC comes out and watch the 3007wfp prices drop. I'm betting I'll get a brand new 3007wfp for $1100 after tax.

what is this 640k?
$1100 doesnt seem hot at all.
I can buy one for less right now.
$1274 - 15% off DPA - 6% using DPA&FC + $78.00 tax = Aprox. $1084

All the coupons I've seen say they aren't stackable with Dell's instant off markdown. Do you have discounts you have verified work with the current price?

Yes, Please explain the math here & how to do this.

Thats exactly what I have been seeing--I have not found any stackable coupons that work off a discounted price. I really want a 2707, and would buy if I could get it under 1k.

I don't see why 10% coupons aren't stackable??
My friend bought a 2407WFP in december with 10% coupon he bought on ebay.
If you visit deal sites like FW and SD, you might even get free coupons.
I got both of 15% coupons from SD.

How about you stop with the acronyms for everything and actually type the names.

How about you spend your one minute and search?
It's all here. I was in same situation as you and I found everything on my own.
It is not a hard task.. ;)
SD = Slickdeal
FW = Fatwallet

If you sign up for a Dell Preferred Account are you guaranteed 15% off the next purchase?

No, you're not.
What you can do is find the 15% off coupon on one of these deal sites.
They show up time to time.
The bottomline is just use 10% off coupon and save yourself from all these hassle.
Don't forget to use extra 3% off using Fat Cash.

What I tried explaining is that the 10% off coupons don't work. All of the ones I've found state they don't work with Dell's 15% Instant Off discount.

May be they don't work now? I am not sure.
I've always used 10% stackable coupons from ebay.

All the eBay auctions are like this.

"Not stackable with auto instant saving. If the product already had auto 10% off or more, the coupon won't save you more! No refund if coupon is not stackable with other promotions."

No offense, but that is the dumbest reference if I've ever seen one being used to support your argument.

$1100 is not a great deal, I've seen it for less.

You know what.. you're right.
the current 10% coupon does not STACK.
This is so weird because they always stacked in the past.
Just bad luck for those who want to buy from Dell I guess...

They are doing a huge sale on 2707 now... $1259 :p

The DPA 15% does NOT work on the 3007WFP, go ahead try it. It works on every other monitor (not sure about 27") and bunches of other things (digi-cams). I called sales and said I would buy the 30", a 20" and a 700 dollar camera (the 20" & camera already had the 15% applied to them) IF they let me get the 30" with the 15% off too (to sweeten the deal for the sales guy) he put me on hold for like 10 minutes. Then came back and said NO!

The problem with the 10% stacking with the 15% is mostly because the 10% stackable E&A coupons seem to be for Small Business (which is fine, but then you don't get the 3% DPA nor do you get the 3% fat cash (both only for Dell Home)).

So long story short, unless you actually bought a 3007wfp for $1,100 including tax& shipping, don't say that $1,100 for it is not HOT. And if you did, do elaborate on how you pulled that off, as I know MANY MANY of us here would love to hear it.

Regarding the price drop some are expecting on the regular 3007WFP when the HC comes out... don't be sure the regulars will still be available. Something to be aware of, when the HC came out in Belgium (earlier this week) they stopped selling the regular 30"... same goes for Australia, no more regular 3007WFP down under as well...

It actually makes sense from a busines point for dell, to get rid of the regular. The W-CFFL for the HC costs meer pennies more to produce over the regular 3007WFP, and they can sell the HC for $1700 whereas they will have to deeply discount the regular for anyone to give it a second look once the HC is out... No point in competing with yourself, you know.

I think that is also part of the reason for the delay, they are trying to blow thru their exisitng stock of regular 30" prior to selling the HC... (thats an educated guess).

All this is food for thought in my case. I think this may be a case of the bird in the hand is better than 2 in the bush or whatever that saying is.

I’m wondering how many of these things they made & how many are still lying around in warehouses.

What is 3% DPA & how do you get the 3% fat cash? Also, does Dell have a price guarantee where if you buy & they lower their price in so many days they’ll refund the difference?

DPA is Dell Preferred Account, which is a dell credit card, which when used in a certain way, gives a 3% instant discount.

The proper way to use it is to first select "Pay with one credit card", THEN click on the link that says Pay with DPA save 3% (that number changes to 2-4 and sometimes dissapears entirely).

Fatcash only applies for Dell home purchases, which you need to go to FatWallet.com, register and then click-thru their site to Dell Home, and you get a 3% cash back on your purchase a couple of months later.

I believe this was the only time Dell 10% coupon didn't stack with 10~15% off promotion.
You're right 15% DPA coupon does not work on 3007 but everything else.
I guess the best price you can get now is to find a 10% stackable coupon and get 6% off using DPA & FC.

Fatcash applies for Dell SB as well.
Dell SB is offering 2.25% cash back through FW.

- 1.125% on PowerEdge SC Servers
- 2.25% on other items

Thanks for the info. I think I'll order one Monday with the automatic 15% off from Dell through this Fat Wallet using a DPA. I'll search the net in the meantime for any applicable coupons also.

You've got me afraid to wait much longer with your post above about how they vanished overseas upon the new model release.

I'll try and find you a coupon. ;)

the resolution and refresh rate aren't going up in the 'new' 30" correct? just the amount of colors? don't see how my 3007 could look any better...
