Found an answer on the forum.

I was helping a friend move his 2407 monitor and the button on the stand was pressed in and the monitor slid to the lowest position and now it is locked in the lowest position. I saw this happen on another Dell 2407 stand and tech support did not how to get the stand to release and wanted the monitor and the stand exchanged for a new one.

Does anyone know how to get the stand to release from this locked(?) low position. Could it be that both of these monitors had defective stands?

If the stand is defective, does anyone have a suggestion for dealing with Dell so they just send a new stand instead of exchanging the whole monitor like they want to? The monitor is a nice one with no problems.

Thanks.

IIRC, doesn't the huge instruction sheet outline how to unlock it? I remember the first thing I tried to do with it afer reading the instructions and taking it out of the box was push the button on the back. Then tried pushing harder and harder only to realize that it as already unlocked:rolleyes: .

Have you tried pressing the button? Also, I hear some people have a sticky button and pushing up and in seemed to help.

Have you tried pushing the "monitor downwards" before pressing the button?

I had the same problem w/ my Dell 2007WFP, you have to push it down and kinda mess w/ the button for a little, just fiddle around w/ it, and it will work. It is not a defect, just crappy design, but, for such a good monitor, I'll still take it and be happy!

 my monitor bands... WTf..dell2407.. everytime i scroll. well black backround. i can see banding grey .
