Dell 2407 and 2007 specs

HAHAHAHAHAH This is where my buying of 2405 from the costco.com is gonna payoff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will return it...get my $960 and order the 2407 :D

pardon me for not knowing ANYTHING about costco, but what are you talkig about? what is this crazy policy that they have?
 
Any leaked pics of what these monitors will look like?

Also, with the system in my sig, what kind of settings will I be looking at with the 2007? I know my system is nothing earth shattering, but the main games I really keep on playing through out the the ages are CS:S, Half-Life series and the Sims. I periodically play BF2, Call of Duty series and some others.

You can pretty much return anything you bought there at any time. My parents had a home theater in a box go bad on them after two years of use, took it back to costco, full refund. Went through the store and picked up a newer model for them and they were off and running.

Unfortunately, you can't do this with their tire center :D

Actually, I was hoping to play games. So what video card would I need to match up with this monitor? I play counter strike source, half life2, call of duty2, Doom3, etc., etc..

My current system is:

Athlon 64 3400
radeon pro 9800
1 gig memory
17 inch viewsonic G773 / crt monitor

OK i know i payed like $200 more then the prices on ebay...but hell with that 200...in long ran its well worth it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As they've said above, Costco will take back prety much anything and everything. I worked at Costco for close to 2 years, and they have a 100% return policy. If you dont want it, at anytime you can return the product (and most of the time if you lost the receipt they'll still take it back). They have a 6 month period or somthing on computers, so people arent upgrading all the time, but other than that its unreal. I've seen people bring back 8+ year old jewelry and get a full refund. Costco is the greatest place to say buy a DVD burner, they have top of the line Plextors, I've got a Plextor loaner atm care of Costco. Or buy a big screen tv, and return em. The best customer returns by far are the day after halloween, the parents have gotten smart and they get a shitload of costumes back the next day, SMART PARENTS.

Every time someone like you abuses this policy is another day closer to them revoking it for the people that actually have problems.

This is an excellent policy for products that fail like the poster above (ND40oz).

But some people of low character and bad upbringing will use it as an upgrade program.

I used to work in a software store where we would take returns on software with no questions asked. It was abused and we had to stop it. Costco will likely do the same because of people like the poster above.

There are always people who will take advantage whether it's Costo, a wife, girlfriend, employer, whatever. Do yourself a favor and stay away from these kind of people.

Anyway, it's not all that different than the 2405 so I think the price will be about the same. I haven't seen the really big coupons that were available last year but I hope they start to come back soon. 2407 for < $800 would be nice.
 
Once these new models hit the shelves would they eventually start sending 2407s if you sent in a defective 2405 on warranty? If so how long do you think it'd take? Also, how long after the 2405 came out did you start to see the price come down with coupons and other deals?
 
Below the "========" lines, are four "W' (widescreen) LCD panels that Samsung is mfrg for Monitor vendors like Dell.
COMMENT:
The new 27" Dell 2707 Monitor (using 27" Samsung panel listed below) has a fat 0.30 Dot Pitch and only 1920x1200 rez.
Not too impressive, compared to 30" Dell 3007 (using 30" Samsung panel below) which has incredible 2560x1600 rez and razor sharp 0.25 Dot Pitch.
Result:
IMHO the 2707 "specs" compared to 2407 (using new 24" Samsung panel below) make 2407 look like a winner.

Gonna have to throw some cold water on this. I have been waiting to buy a new monitor to replace my trusty 19" LCD until these Dells came out. Now, I think I will either get a 2405 on clearance, or go to another company, say NEC. I am amazed that Dell did not do a full redesign on their monitor line. Their Widescreen monitors have become so very well known, and a fresh lineup would assure them product dominance. But alas, this is not the case. Oh well, good for me, I can buy a 2405 and feel good.

I thought Dell had a made-to-order inventory system. Do they have a lot of 2405s sitting around.

When they switched from the Axim 50v to the 51v, the 50v just kinda disappeared.

I guess we'll find out. :)

I could have boughtthe monitor from ebay and saved $200...but i didnt

because i want to be be able to return exchnage whenver i want!!!

Therefore i willl use every chance i get to exchnage and renew my monitor...i didn't just pay $200 extra for nothing

so know what your saying...your just angry that you didnt buy yours from costco?

Uhhh, that's nothing at all like what he said. Costco's return policy is meant so that you can take back stuff after it breaks even after the warranty period has expired. It is not meant as a program to loan you shit for free. And no, you didn't pay $200 extra, you paid $0. Because that it ultimately how much you will have spent at Costco. He's angry that you're abusing their policy, because he might buy stuff from them and legitimately have to return it, only to find the policy gone due to all the money they were losing to those loaning equipment.

Why does Samsung charge so much more for theirs? I'd rather buy it in a store where I can exchange it if it has too many dead pixels but Samsung charges like 40% more for the same screen.

Dell 2707, Dell 3007 and Dell 2407 (upgrade of 2405).

To my understanding, one reason is because DELL and Samsung got different way of sales. The Samsung got many ads. and stores...they need to pay for it..But DELL they sells online. Another reason I think is the brand...The Samsung is the largest LCD vendors...
