I've had the Ultrasharp 2407WFP-HC for a couple years and there's a few black "blotches" (not really sure what they are) on one side of the screen. They look like food stains or something but they're on the inside of the screen. Not really dead pixels, just weird little things. Anyone know wtf this is?

I'm looking at getting a new monitor too but on Dell's website the best thing they have in 24" is the U2410 for $550 and seeing as my 2407 was around $800 new I'm assuming what I have is better anyway ... right (I know judging them based on price is wrong so please correct me if the U2410 is actually better than the 2407WFP-HC)? Also there's no "HC" version of the U2410, and HC between the 2407 and the 2407HC was a huge difference. I thought there were more choices like a 2408WFP-HC and a newer version of the 2407WFP-HC, at least I thought I remembered seeing them on Engadget and stuff in the past. Are there any other choices or should I just stick with what I have?

The 2407wfp-HC has a wide gamut backlight. There is no 2408wfp-HC per se, but the 2408wfp also has a wide gamut backlight as does the new u2410. the 2407wfp-HC and 2408wfp use S-PVA lcd panels where as the U2410 uses an H-IPS panel. There are advantages and disadvantages to both technologies but I think the concensus is that IPS is better.

Also the U2410 seems to have less input lag then the 2407wfp-HC. Overall I think that the U2410 would be an approriate upgrade. Just remember dell has an excellent return policy if you are not happy with the monitor.

I've been doing some research and apparently the U2410's colors look much better than the 2407's but the blacks on the 2410 aren't as good. I'm trying to find a store nearby that has a 2410 so I can check it out.

you know what i think you have much better chance of just looking for a similar type panel than finding u2410 selling locally
