I'm a long-time reader, first time poster. I've debated for a long time about getting the HP 2335, but I just can't justify paying that much for it.

I just found something similar on Dell's website, with a very nice price tag of $1000. What do you guys think? How will these two products differ (other than the design/look, which is not even a factor for me).

The native resolution is much lower (1280x768 vs. 1920xwhatever) and the response time is 25ms. Is this lcd going to be horrible for gaming or will it be tolerable?

I cant speak for the dell, but I had a Gateway 23" LCD/TV that also has a 25ms response time. I was actually very surprised how well it did for gaming. I went from gaming on my NEC FP2141 to the lcd and it also makes my crt look like a pos in both 2d and 3d.

Keep in mind it’s a TV first. It’s use as a monitor is a secondary thought at best. Add to that as a TV it’s a very low performer compared to others in the market place.

I think in the end you would be unhappy with the focus, clarity etc of that unit. Take a look at the Oliva, much higher res, and way better picture.

My experience with Dell home entertainment stuff has not been good at all.

Just some thoughts
