Hi all,

I bought a LG L204WT and I am not satisfied with it, pictures look grainy, movies too, as being said, the only good thing with this monitor is games, but I do not game ;)

So I am currently interested in the Dell 2007WFP, it is currently on sale @ dell.ca for $479.99 which is a pretty good deal I think. Ok, so, I heard there is banding issue with this monitor, that I need to get a special number panel so it doesn't have this problem (02 panel I think). I will mostly use my monitor to surf the web and watch dvds because I do not have a television here in my room so I use my computer as one. Is this monitor good for movies? My computer is an amd 3200 processor with a Nvidia Geforce 6800 GS (MSI)

Well, let me know anything you know about this monitor and well, What's dell's warranty against dead pixel. For example, if I get my monitor and there's one dead pixel, can I take it back??

Thanks for your help, this forum is really nice and I'm glad I found its existence not too long ago, you guys have been helpful :)

P.S.: do you guys know any site with dell coupons that work in Canada?

Is this your first LCD? Because I find they all make movies look more grainy. Nature of the beast. Though I definitely do prefer IPS panels like the Dell for having the best adaptability with consistent viewing angles and good color response.

I would wait on dell, it should be going back on sale soon. You will probably get it for $350, with back to school sales coming soon.

its 350 in the usa...im in canada..i wont get it for 350....

I have the dell 2007wfp and it's great! However, it's not good for movies and it will look grainy. Not the monitor's fault though cause you are taking a low res dvd video source and upscaling it to 1680X1050 res. Of course it's going to look grainy. All monitors with this res will make movies look grainy when viewing them up close. If you sit back a few feet though, the grain doesn't show as much.

molsoncanadian, just a warning. I ordered the 2007WFP and I received an A02. Unfortunately, it still had the banding problem. I guess it's a matter of luck. If not for the banding, I definitely would have been a extremely happy with my purchase.

thanks, about video playback...its normal i guess..but can u watch dvds on it or ur just too annoyed but its bad playback?

About the banding panel...will they correct it? Is it possible to correct it?

I've had a 2007WFP for about a month now and I've noticed no banding. I use it mostly for gaming but I have watched one store bought DVD movie and didn't notice anything bad about it at all. I'm real happy I bought this monitor, I love it.

Also, a friend of mine bought the samsung 21" widescreen and after seeing my monitor he's thinking of sending his back to buy the Dell. :)

What did you see the banding on. I ask because I have been following this since the beginning and A02 really seems to fix it. You have to be very unlucky to get have a A02 with banding.

Agree with you 100%! I got a 2007wfp recently and absolutely love it. Best monitor I've ever owned! :D

Pick up the NEC 20WMGX2. Works great for gaming, movies and everyting else and it uses an AS-IPS. Best out there.

As a designer, I'm very picky about this. I did some simple gradient tests in Photoshop. The banding was obvious. This was actually my second attempt at purchasing this model. The first time was back before Dell acknowledged the problem and released the A02. I was going to give Dell one more shot and do an exchange, but when I called them I received some lousy customer service. The whole experience was enough to turn me off and stay away from Dell for good. If you got one without banding, count your lucky stars. I REALLY wanted this monitor. Now I have no idea which monitor to get.

I'm currently on my third 2007WFP. The first was an A01 with banding so I exchanged it 2 months after I got it with an A02 that came with a stuck red pixel in the exact center of the screen. It drove me nuts. I later found a second stuck blue pixel about an inch away from the red one. Dell exchanged it for me and this one is perfect. No banding or dead/stuck pixels. I am finally completely satisfied with the LCD.
Dealing with Dell's tech support can be a hassle but I only had to talk to Indians for the first exchage and I only had to ask them to repeat something maybe once. After that, I called and talked to Brenda and some other guy...Americans!

Yup, they're doing a major transition right now.
