I just received my Dell 2005FPW, and i am stunned at how unbelievable it looks.. i never expected it to look anything like it does now.. No backlight issues or dead pixels... I will post pics up tomorrow for you to see.

The question I have is.. that I'm trying to use the CD to install the drivers for the monitor.. but this is the error I keep getting and I can't bypass it..

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT . The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.

Also.. how come certain sites are allowed to be viewed fully on the screen like hardforum.com / hardocp.com and others like foxnews.com or somethin is not

I have no idea about the first issue, but will comment on the second. If the site is somewhat dynamic and changes based on the browser size (like the [H]) then it appears to stretch for the whole screen. On the other hand, if the site has set tables and the like, it won't stretch because the html is telling it how big to draw everything. Basically, it's the website and has nothing to do with your computer.

My DVD-ROM drive recently broke, dont know how.. I'm unable to watch any Family Guy episodes or even watch my favorite movie " Crimson Tide".. so i dont know if its possible, im gonna try hooking up my DVD player into my monitor, than.. after that, im gonna try hooking up gamecube / x-box.

Seroiously, i would want this over sex and a red corvette.. its my true belief that god has touched this monitor before it reached my HOUSE!!..

AHH, uits only the video wire... omg my damn DVD-rom is broke, i cant see the Matrix SCENE now...

why.. lol

OK... i think this is some kind of miracle.. somehow god is on my side..

I was just rearranging my room and cleaning it so i can get ready for the monitor.. I stumbled across this wire.. i remember my cousin left it @ my house like a year ago, when i really didn't know much about computers and I had NO CLUE what purpose this wire served.. i think it may help me in this situation, and im about to cream myself...

here are some pics..

I believe you got that backwards. ..."I'm not excited, just extremely retarded". :p ... but it's ok. I understand the situation you are in. ;)
Congratulations! and welcome to the widescreen club! Yours looks very sharp. I bought mine last month and still love it today. (even with it's slight backlight issues). I ordered another a week or so ago, so I can't wait to go dually on these. As far as the cd/driver thing.... well, I never took the CD out and used it. I just hooked my dvi's together and powered it up. Windows XP picked right up on it, and I have never looked back. Is there something important on the cd I should be aware of? From past experiences, the CD's that come with the monitors are usually color tweaking programs that never look right IMO. If it ain't broke, I'm not fix'n it.

Congrats again.... just wait until you run a little HL2 on that baby. You think you are smiling now? ... just wait....

Here is my "opening day" experience on page 10 of this thread Dell’s UltraSharp 2005FPW widescreen 20-inch LCD monitor.

Hi,
this is a common problem after installing SP2. Easiest way is goole for AUTOEXEC.NT and download the working version or copy from your windows xp disk (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;324767). Hope that helps.

I meant to reply last night on the thread.. I got it to work..

I googled the problem and came up to a Microsoft Support page in which I had to create autoexec.nt files and replace them with the ones in System32, working fine..

I just couldn't get my video card to read the monitor as a Dell 2005FPW, it was reading it as Plug-In-Play, it was bothering me although it changed nothing.. and there is nothing important on the CD... lol i thought there was

And i played half-life 2 last night at 16:10 ratio, and i have never seen anything like it in my entire life.. i actually screamed inside and did a dance in my room for at least 10 minutes to the song

Earth, Wind, and Fire - Shining Star

... dont ask me why...

THE ONE problem i'm having right now is hooking up my x-box / gamecube / dvd-player into the monitor..

Is there a special connection i can buy that would give me optimal quality in regards to that.. but i also think i am going to buy a new DVD-ROM since the one i have now is broken.. because i think it would look more crisp going through the computer and the DVI connection than going straight to the monitor w/ a 3rd party connection..

How great was it when you first took it out of the box.. and you saw how gigantic the screen was.. than watching Half-Life2..

Like i said before, i would want this monitor over sex and a red corvette..

Trust me he still wants the sex

Getting that excited over a monitor? I think it'll be awhile on the sex part. Maybe go for the red Corvette?
