well, i bought a dell 2001fp.. so far its been great, other than its blue stuck pixel practically dead center on the LCD... well, long story short, i brought the LCD downstairs to hook up to the current computer i have (building mine soon) . well, i went to play farcry, and there is no picture, its all black. i have sound, and if i press esc. it skips the intro (i can tell b/c i know the music it plays)... i plug the other LCD i have in, and bam, it works... 2001fp, doesnt work, old LCD does.... and this ONLY happens in farcry... COD is fine, as is everything else.. any suggestions on why im getting a black screen with farcry ONLY?

I can't speak from experience since I don't own the monitor but perhaps Farcry is forcing a higher refresh rate than the other games. I know many games generally run at 60hz or the current refresh rate of the desktop, however maybe Farcry is actually forcing 85 hz and the LCD can't handle it but the other one can... I really can't think of another reason for this. I would have expected the display to display, "out of range" or something but I've seen monitors that just switch off when the refresh rate is too high.

It seems odd that the other LCD works properly. Maybe try and go into the OSD settings on the other LCD while you are in Far cry and see what refresh rate is being displayed. That should answer that question anyhow.

That is what I was thinking also. Farcry is trying to push a Higher Refresh Rate that the FP2001 cannot handle. Try to run at 60Hz and you should be fine...

the 2001fp is about 10000 times better than my old LCD. the 2001fp's responce time is 16ms, meanwile my old one (about 2 years almost) isnt any where near that... the 2001fp came with a driver CD, but i dont want to install it b/c i will be taking back my monitor to my room in about a week, and dont have any CD drivers to set it back for the old LCD. ill just wait it out i guess...

also, the video card on this POS computer only goes up to a max of 1024x768. meanwile the LCD goes up to 1600x1200....so with a combo of no LCD drivers (running pure stock LCD, with whatever came with the old lcd still installed) and the horrible video card, it might be causing it... LCD going back to my room as soon as i get my parts and build a system.

Maybe hunt around and see if you can find enough dead pixels to RMA. A dead pixel, even a tiny 1600x1200 pixel, stuck dead centre would annoy me to distraction.

I've got 4 stuck pixels on my 2001FP but they're thankfully on the periphery of the screen and I so live with them.

Congrats on your new monitor anyway.
Just what we need around here. Another Dell 2001FP fan boy! :D

well the pixel is blue, so it only shows up on black.. but its all good.. its just one, as to your 4.. so ill deal with it

Is your old LCD analog, by chance? That might explain why it's not having a problem with high frequency signals. I think only DVI connections have this problem?

im not sure about if its analog or not. its like the 1st LCD that ever came out,,, lol... my bro used to manage a radio shack, and he brought it home years ago...

when i get and build my computer, i will run farcry wiht this LCD. if it doesnt work, then i will be pissed. but i think i can deal with it for now.

its just weird how all my games work 100% cept for farcry... i hear the music just nothing visual.. even if i hit esc. it skips the intro and brings me to the begining, only problem is you cant see shit! lol
