How good is the Dell 2001fp for gaming(FPS games...a la UT2k4 and DOOM 3 when it's out)? I read that it was 16ms.

Also, just curious...but what's the best 20 inch LCD for gaming? Not that I can afford the best, but I could probably get a 2001fp.

I played UT2k3 for awhile on the 2001 fp. Not that bad. I beat 2k4 on SP, but I got bored in 2 days with the multiplayer, so can't really give you an opinion. Other than that, I've played Far Cry & Call of Duty, and have no problems. Ghosting really isn't something I pick up on it, but others do. It depends on the person honestly. Try the 2001 fp for yourself. After all, I believe (though could be wrong), Dell will refund you if you don't like it for any reason in the first 30 days.

I have had my 2001fp's for about a month and half now, and I couldn't be happier. I have not noticed any ghosting in any games and I'm a pretty heavy BF1942 player, I've also thrown a few odd's and end games at it like UT2K4, FarCry, Jedi Academy etc.

The only annoyance I have found is that when web browsing some sites that have a back ground with that "scan line" or "window blind" effect to them it gets kinda fuzzy when you scroll up and down fast. But it really isn't that big a deal to me.

I used a 2001fp for two weeks and saw no ghosting what so ever. I played far cry, pain killer, and ut2k4 with it. My eyes were very accustomed to an 85 hz refresh rate CRT when I made the switch, still I noticed no ghosting or motion blur.

For LCD gaming at 20” I don’t think the 2001fp can be beat (for the price at least)

I just got mine today and tested on some games ut2k4 splinter cell farcry and battlefield 1942 all I can say is I saw no ghosting or anythinh that would bother me this lcd is beutiful and huge couldnt be any happyer

the 2001FP is about as good as it gets with gaming on an LCD.

The 2001FP is only 1 of 3 LCD's that Maximum PC tested that passed their FPS game tests.

Would you happen to know the other 2?

Maximum PC also passed the samsung 172X and the planar pl1700

on a side note they 'failed' the viewsonic vp201s, which i believe uses the same panel as the 2001fp. So I'm not sure how well they ran their tests.

Flip through Maximum PC and count how many dell advertisements you see, then count how many Viewsonic advertisements you see ;)

also they failed it cause it didnt do good in non native res they didnt say how good it did at its native res

This makes some sense since they could be using different interpolation processing chips even if they have the same panel.
