Yikes, but this 8°C hotter core is driving me nuts. It's time to rip her top off and squirt mah goo all over her naughty bits.

Well, didn't solve the hot core. Core #1 several degrees higher than the others. HOWEVER!!! I dropped 18º load temps :D Very happy with that.
This was the most nerve-wrecking experience I've ever done. I never want to do it again. Next platform will be HEDT for this reason alone if they don't solder the consumer chips next round.
I used Gelid Extreme III for my TIM. Perhaps later I'll get some CLU if I see my temps start to rise over time.
 
did u put lid back on, or direct die cooling? I'm also stuck at 4.5ghz on my 6600k but I only have a cheapie H70i Corsair cooler shoved into a mITX cube for cooling. Did you get a higher oc?
 
No, didn't do direct die. From what I've read, you only lose another 1-2°C with doing that, plus the extra risk, and that requires also spending some extra money that I dont wanna spend ;)

Haven't attempted more OC yet. I'll be doing some more OC attempts next week when my GPU block comes in. I need to be certain that the increased water temps from gpu won't affect the cpu OC. I'm sure I'm just being silly about that, but oh well ;)
My x71 comes today. Gonna see what kind of baseline water temps I get with just the cpu and the extra EK XE 360 that came in yesterday

Could be the sensor is not as accurate.. I assume you are not using the GPU or lightly using it.

GPU not in the loop yet. Block is backordered from PPCs. Should be in sometime next week hopefully
