Deleting corrupt attribute record

I have been getting a lot of errors on my disk lately. What I am seeing is "recovering orphaned file, and deleting corrupt attribute record". Anyone have any ideas on why this is happening. I have my hard drive split into 4 partitions. One partition has Windows XP, and the other has Windows Server 2003. I have had this set up in the past on other computers and never saw a conflict. The computer is less than a year old, and has 300gb hard drive capacity.
 
does it only happen on one partition, or all of them?
does it happen in only the XP install, or both the XP and Server installs?

need a little more info.

possible signs of a failing drive.
 
How can it be a failing drive? I've only had it for a few months. It was brand new. This also did not happen until after I changed the partitions.
 
um, because not 100% of harddrives sold are 100% reliable for 100% of their life-span?

sure, we can do more speculation, but with no troubleshooting being done, we're shooting in the dark.

it's just a suggestion, take it as such. Do what you wish.

some people have new hds fail hours after they install them. its just something that happens. no hd should ever be trusted to last. I would recommend you backup your data (then again, you should always have a backup of your data anyway...)

I did a full format. Previously, I did quick formats, but this time, after I did the full format, it is showing that half my disk is occupied. When I open the partition, it shows no files.

have you run any disc diagnostic software? your drive sounds fucked, and if you aren't going to bother running diagnostic software, no need to keep posting.
