Is the criterion based upon personal preference or do you already have your CPU?

I need a motherboard that meets these requirements for my next system, having a hard time tracking down what I’d like….

1. Must be able to use DDR1
2. Must support LGA775 CPU
3. Have APG 8X
4. PCI Express would be nice but not required
5. Preferably an Intel chipset.

Thanks

Check out Asus

Asus has the P4P500 and Abit has the AS8. Both meet your requirements for LGA775, and AGP, as well as DDR1.

You get EITHER PCI-Expres or AGP 8x, not both. If you have PCI-Express, you don't need AGP 8x, which is older technology.

John Addison,

Don't you consider Athlon 64 at all? MSI K8N NEO4 would be better in specification:

1. Audigy 24bit 100db SNR clarity audio chip

2. Dual Lan: a) built-in nForce 4 SLI Gbit chip b) PCI Express Marvell 8053 Gbit chip

3. 802.11g WLAN + bluetooth

4. PCI Express 16X x 2 for nVidia's SLI graphics cards

5. SATA II x 4

DFI makes an Intel 875 Chipset board with a socket 775 for the cpu. Uses good old DDR memory, and also has AGP. From the reviews i have seen, it outperforms intel's 925 Chipset, so this would get my recommend for your criteria.

Check it out.

good recomedation worth a look

As I recall there was a board review I saw with AGP and PCI-E for LGA775. I'll look for the review and see if I can locate some. Edit to come later. It was a Gigabtye board i think.

EDIT (5 minutes later): Ok, i found that review I was talking about. Only bad part is is that they had a performance crash when they tried to play Farcry with the AGP card. Also I found a few forum posts talking about the new Via chipset that supports both AGP and PCI-E.
