So I accidentally deleted my "Favorites" folder in windows 7. Its the one in your user folder. Well this broke the favorites functionality in windows explorer, I can't add any locations to my favorites or do anything. How do I go about restoring this folder?

^ probably easiest way to do it.
Funnily, I tried deleting my Favorites on my XP work box and wouldn't let me. I was just going to replace it with a backup, but XP was all, nope, not going to let you do that, thanks for playing.

Just remake the folder in the same location. Windows will do the rest. No need to make new profiles and waste time.
I think the main problem here was that I deleted both the 'favorites' and the 'links' folder. Apparently favorites is just for IE(?) and the links was the folder that was actually required to get 'favorites' working in win explorer. Had I known this it would have been easier to fix, but a system restore got me back on track.
