We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.

How do you delete an OU in Active Directory Users and Computers. I created an OU at a lower level than I intended and I want to recreate it or move it but I keep getting a permission error.

I tried setting the security on the OU so that Domain Administrators ie me had full control and that didn't make a difference.

make sure the OU is not protected from accidental deletion. Right click > properties > object > uncheck the box

Edit: ^^^ What he said

My guess is that you have 2008 server. You need to turn off the protected directory settings.

I hate that.. I created and OU. I'm pretty sure I'm smart enough to know what the hell i want to do with it. Damn you Microsoft

Can Microsoft be 100% sure you know what your doing? No.
How often do you delete OU's in a production environment? Not that often, so what is a little extra click to prevent lots of headaches and oops moments down the road.
At least in 08 it gets sent to retention. Instead of 03 where if you deleted it it was gone. (unless you had backups)

Microsoft doesn't know what your doing, but do you know what your doing?

What does that even mean? You sound like someone that is going to say "damn you Microsoft" regardless.

You will damn them because they don't let you make a stupid mistake like delete an OU without making you be SURE that you delete it.

I suppose you would also say "damn you Microsoft" because when you did eventually make a mistake (it happens) you would say where was the protection, where was the safety net.

haha i can name two times where i am damn glad that delete prevention feature existed. Both times I over clicked while ctrl clicking computers.
