I have a maxtor 7y250po (I think thats the number) 250GB maxline II PATA drive. Everytime I try to transfer large files onto it I get this delayed write failure error and sometimes it even locks up my PC. Anyone know whats causing the problem?

Should I just replace the drive?

Go to Maxtor website and down load the diagonstics program and run it. That drive might be going bad.

Powerblast is the one you want.

Check cables, check power supply, run diagnostics, RMA/retire. Sometimes a bad cable will cause such errors, and a the drive may be complaining about low quality current from the PSU.
