Here is my problem:

I keep on getting "Delayed Write Failed" messages when I try to write a file larger than ~400MB to my external hard drive. The details of my system are listed below. I have done all of the things I have posted in the forum below, and now, my computer is suddenly rebooting and not telling me why.

I hope someone here can help. I've tried multiple things to no avail. I have the most up to date BIOS for my motherboard. More details are listed in the forum above. PLEASE HELP!!!

disable large system cache, its a known issue with ati drivers.

Umm....where would I disable large system cache? I mean...is it in BIOS or the actual ATI drivers themselves, because I have had this external enclosure working before. It just suddenly decided to piss me off one day. I mean...I have over 90GB of data on it already, and I transferred all of that fine.

More details are listed in the link to the other forum.

that would be via the registry
I can advise you how, but not if, its a good move
I havent personally verified its applicability

Start > Run > Regedt32 for W2K or Regedit for XP > Enter

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\

In this key double-click on the LargeSystemCache registry value to open a DWORD editor window (enabled would be 1).

Change the Hex (hexadecimal) or Decimal value to 0. (small cache)

close regedit and reboot

I'm having a similiar problem, but I'm not using XP or a USB device. I am using an ATI card, but LargeSystemCache was already off when I checked it.

Any record of anything similiar under 2k with a Promise FastTrak 100 RAID?
