So I've seen a lot of talk of E8400's being degraded with too much juice thrown at them, is there a tangible way to tell if this has happened to a processor or not? I'm looking to pick up another E8400 on the forums and would rather not get an abused chip. Are they just flaky when degraded or totally inoperable?
 
I don't think it'd affect it running stock. Degradation is usually talking about a chip's ability to run at certain OC settings.

That said, don't hesitate to dig through the guy's post to see if he OCed. Or you could always ask him directly hah.
 
ok bc as long as it would run ok stock thats fine. anyone see one to the point it didnt run properly at stock speeds>?

If all the overclocking is done property and the chip is stress-tested, I don't see that happening.
