Defragging an SSD is a bad idea

Interesting article. Good info to link whenever we get people in the forums asking if they should defrag their SSD.

Short answer: No

Long answer: No, Windows does something like a defrag on an intelligent, monthly basis that is automatic and you should neither run a manual defrag or disable its automated process.

Defragging an SSD isn't always a bad idea, it is only a bad idea to do it more than necessary. That's why its best to just let Windows do the TRIM and defrag itself. For spinner drives, business as usual.

Good read there. I never knew windows was handling my ssd's in such an intelligent fashion. Makes me have a bit more respect for the folks at Redmond.
