Default Windows permissions

Been browsing the security permissions throughout my system and have found that things are very inconsistent. Ownership of some drives are System while others belong to the Administrators group, etc.

Does anyone know what the default ownership of a drive or folder should be? Is it Administrators?

As viewed in the basic security dialogs, it's generally:

Authenticated Users: everything but full control/special access
SYSTEM: everything
Administrators: everything but special access
Users: Both reads, list folder contents
