default voltage on my P4

I got a p4 3.0C and I'm gonna overclock it, so I need to take manual control of the CPU Core voltage, but I need to know what the default voltage would be for this processor so I can start at the beginning. Right now it's just set to "auto", which is just another name for default I guess. This is a simple questio nbut I really appreciate the help guys. Thanks in advance. :D
 
New P4 CPUs are multi-vid, so can be a variety of voltages. Most are 1.45v to 1.55v, but some newer ones are as low as 1.25v.

Usually however, the default is 1.525v.
 
I still can't get this mofo to overclock, Once I get to like a 213 FSB I tried setting the CPU voltage from everywhere from 1.55 to 1.625 and it still wouldn't take, what the heck is going on?
 
probably shitty core (cpu) but try changing your memory to 322 in bios and then overclocking it if that dont do it then you got a bad cpu I got one a 2.6c that would only do 2.86 ordered a 3.0c and got my sig sorry I have to gloat
 
alright, I got 3.6 @ 1.675, I'm stress testing with Prime 95, does that voltage sound about right for that speed?
 
That voltage is a little high for comfort. I would try 1.65 if possible.
 
Nothing wrong with that voltage. As long as your temps stay reasonable (ie. <60) you can go to 1.7v and higher at your own risk.
 
Just remember your P4C800-E will overvolt the thing, so setting it at 1.65 or so may actually flucuate with 1.7v or so. 1.7+ is truly a risk and can cause Sudden Death Northwood Syndrome. Are there actually any documentations or personally testimonies about this, because obviously it may not happen today or the next day, but it's handing there. Well, to be honest I've heard some cases where people have gotten away with pushing it that high, but no one has personally posted a thread here about having SNDS that I know of, and personally I would like more info about actual real time experiences.
 
I had my 1.6a@1.75volts for 2 years thats just a myth if you ask me my 3.0c I actually had to bump it up to 1.65 because of the minor fluxx this board has. my temps dont go past 51c
I would say as long as you can control the temps under load then volt it till until it glows.
