should i just purchase another pad of that stuff and scrape off the old and apply the new -OR- buy some thermal paste. i read that paste should only be used if i plan to keep it there for a short time and a pad would be ideal for a nice long stay with the chip. i plan on having the chip for a while but paste seems to be the new -IN- thing in cooling. if i go paste, what should i get that would give me the most bang for my buck?

thermal paste can be used for a long time as far as i know. if you go for thermal paste get arctic silver ceramique as arctic silver 5 is capacitive. if youre not going to be applying many applications i would get the ~3 gram tube. i bought the 12 gram tube a couple years ago and it has lasted me 30+ applications
