Hi, I have the following setup: A windows XP machine connected via a 802.11g adapter to the internet (usb adapter). A laptop running fedora core 4 connected to the internet via a wireless ethernet adapter 802.11b. Both my XP machine and Fedora machine have a cat5 ethernet port that is not being used (both built into the motherboard). I was wondering if I could connect these via a twisted pair cable and make VNC go through that so it would be much faster than via the wireless router, however at the same time maintain my internet connection with no interference. Thanks

Just connect them with a crossover cable, and use static ip addresses for the NICs. Just make sure you use a different subnet than the wireless network, ie: if your wireless is using 192.168.0.0/24 then use 192.168.1.0/24.
