I am looking for a new sound card for my computer. I need it for gaming, music, movies and etc. around Christmas i am going to set up a home recording set up so i can record my guitar licks and stuff.

these are the power monitors i will be using
mic ill be using to record the amp
mixing board

so i was wondering which sound card would best suit my needs

i have narrowed it to the following two

creative

E-mu (do not know much about the company)

The X-Fi Plat or above has an input for both dymnamic and condensor mic's. The only issue is does your mic require phantom power? If so, the CL cards will not work with the mic directly. You can use a preamp with phantom power then almost any card after that. (the mixer you are listing will work)

In fact, a tube preamp as the first stage from any microphone gives pretty much the best sound quality you can get.

I just use a Dynex dynamic mic with mine.
