First of all, i know there are tons of threads like this.

Second of all, im looking into a new monitor. My dad handed this down to me. Its a dell 1800fp and its not very pleasent to look at. The colors are all blocky and faded out. I game pretty much everyday and dont as much like acurate colors as i do vibrant ones. Im not a big fan of ghosting as it does not bother me one bit on this lcd so thats not a huge factor. What size should i get?? Widescreen or not?? What kind of panel??

thanks

Well, I'd recommend wide screen for gaming. I just made the transition from a 17" CRT to a 22" wide screen LCD, and I'm loving it.

What kind of budget do you have?
What are the specs of the computer?
What kind of games do you play?

i have a slightly powerful system like a pentium 4 3.0ghz and a 6800gs with a gig of ram and im looking to spend under 400 dollars i play source games, doom 3 (blacks look horribly red on my current lcd) and bf2 and others

hmm im not a big fan of widescreen but ill look into it. i was looking at the 90GX2 but i guess if widescreen is so amazing i should reconsider.

and no i will not get the 20wmgx2....even though it is perfect lol

i agree. but 90gx2 looks like the best 19" lcd at best buy and im in love with the opticlear

I picked up a 20wmgx2 two weeks ago and I love it!!
Pure awesomeness. I would definitely recommend widescreen for a single monitor setup. Your eyes naturally prefer that ratio.

You can get a Chimei 22" widescreen for $269 at Microcenter. I have it and love it, and if you read the review's it's nearly all positive. Wide for games is amazing.

I agree with defender...
Also have a 20wmgx2,but I use it for photo editing.
I'm no gamer, but my son is..he bought a 22in. Benq from NewEgg....he is experiencing ghosting & other issues..
Guess who's monitor he's using now???
Go to http://www.nm-select.com a division of NEC.
They have some really great deals on re-furbs and new monitors.I payed $439 for mine.
Hope this helps,
Mike
