Deciding between 2 flat panels

it's no secret, dell makes some damn good monitors (barring the early production troubles of the 2005fpw)

realized 19" screens have the same resolution as 17" screens, eh?
 
Seems like ppl complain about more dead pixels on the dells then any other on here.. Maybe its just becuase they are the most purchased compared to the others but I keep reading about them. I plan on going with the viewsonic pro series VP912B... 12ms panel.

What about the native resolution on the Dell? How is the image quality on lower resolutions like 1280x1024?

If you buy an LCD with a native resolution of 1600x1200 then your going to probably have to play all your games at 1600x1200 if you want the best image quality.

I thought about the dead pixels but figure I can probably return it if there are any that are too obvious. Also, Anandtech has a decent review of a preproduction unit:
