Decide for me

Well, how much gaming do you do? Do you need a high end card, do you expect to play new games at high resolutions? If not the 9800 may be fine, and is certainly not a bad deal.

Otherwise the 6800 will be a better choice because it'll allow you to keep running future games at higher resolutions and will support newer features.

depends how big of a gamer you are.

9800 pro is a good card. and you can get it for about 220.

Im leaning more towards the 195 dollar MSI 9800 pro which does xt speeds stock so ppl are saying. I play at 1024x768 but will play at 1280xwhateveritis if my hardware can support it. Yea im gonna get back into gaming once i have the hardware to play farcry, hl2, doom3 blah blah blah

In that case you might want the 6800... or an X800 pro or something. Something a bit more up to date will help you with those more, and if you're buying now I'd lean towards suggesting one of the newer architectures.

If you have the cash, get the 6800GT. If you wanna save some cash, get the 9800Pro. The GT will be much better for todays games though. The 6800GT should be a decent card for Doom, HL2, yadda yadda.

Forget the fanboy replies....if you are going to play D3, HL2, FC, at 1024x78 or better and want good eye candy...get at least the 6800GT (16 texture pipes and a good clock speed, think AMD) or the X800 Pro (12 pipes but a higher clock speed, think P4). Both of them will rock those games....

Me... I went the 6800GT route because of the 16 pipes, SM3.0 and HDR lighting support...it *should* be a bit more future proof than the X800p...but nothing is really...so get one or the other and enjoy it. :D
