decent hardware raid 5 card?

any help... dont want to spend tooooo much, like looking for around 150 or under for the price. i want hardware raid 5, and i'm willing to pay for it, but thats my personal price i would like to keep it under.

picking up 4 200gb seagates i think. maybe 3. i just need redundancy... fuck single hard drives, lol
 
i had the promise fasttrax sata 4 port card, did raid 5, just needed to add memory, card was about 150, then memory (pc133) was a little extra.

good card and never had any issues, yet i feel it was slow, transfer rates were around 70mb or so a second.
 
I have a Promise Fasttrack SX4-M (comes with 64Mb on-board cache), which works fine. Writing to the 4 Samsung SP1614's isn't too fast (I think ~10-20MB/s or so) but it works fine otherwise.

Depending on what mobo you are planning to use it on, I'd get the new PCIe Highpoint 2230 or whatever it is called.
 
oh yeah, meant for it to be sata... and i dont have any pci-e yet, thats why i was gonna get a card to begin with, cause i didnt have enough onboard ports, and i wanted to use raid 5
 
for non-PCIe, hardware Raid-5 around 150: Promise SX4(-M)/SX8 or Highpoint 1810A/1820A
