Just seeing what this board thinks of my main rig ATM, I personally feel it will last a long time as most application don't even scratch the surface of it's potential with a 3.6Ghz quad core and 8GB's of ram, even the HD4890 has 2GB of on board memory.

I see people on this forum always building these massive rigs with i7 core's and dual or even quad vid cards, I understand wanting a really powerful system for I am also a computer enthusiast but really what do you need all the power for, is there a crazy game coming out that is going to have 8 threads and the need for a HD5870 x4 setup?!

Well I'm falling off topic, I do feel this computer is going to last a good while, i still have yet to reach the OC potential on this chip (1.175Vcore, 1.22VTT, 1.10PLL and yes 12.5HourePrme95 blend among other test). dam keep getting side tracked!

Well what is your take on it anyway.

your always going to find an extreme enthusiast who has a a LOAD of cash to spend to Squeeze every single ounch of Frames they can. in my opinion 1 or 2 cards is enough and anymore then that is a complete waste of money.

nothing wrong with your setup might need a change in video sooner or later and youll never be able to use the new 6core cpu's that are coming out.

I'm a firm believer in the "build to suit your needs" philosophy. Simply spending thousands on an i7 extreme machine when all you're doing is using the internet and word processing is absurd.

That being said, I did build a machine that is overkill for my needs. Nevertheless, I got it via good deals and wanted it to last for some time because I don't upgrade every year. I would probably do it all over again if I had to.

When your computer can no longer do the things you want it to do, its time to upgrade. Upgrade only the aspect of the system that is too slow/insufficient for your needs. When you can't find good bang for buck upgrade parts that are compatible with your current parts, or there are too many parts to replace, then its time for an overhaul. :p
