Hi, I am suppose to check this computer out for my dad's friend, is it pretty good? It won't be used for games.

Pentium 4, 3ghz with Hyperthreading
865GBF chipset, 6 USB 2.0 ports, dual channel memory
512MB Dual Channel DDR 400Mhz Kingston Ram
160GB Western Digital 7200RPM 8MB Hard drive
52x24x52 CD-RW
16x DVD Drive
19" Samnsung Perfectly Flat Monitor
Radeon 9200 8X 128MB DDR, TV-Out
SoundMax 3D Sount
Altec Lansing 3 Piece Speaker Set with Subwoofer
Microsoft Internet Keyboard
Microsoft Optical Mouse
Microsoft Software Bundle (Word, Works, Encarta...)

Is this a good computer for $1030USD or $1377 CDN? I'm from Canada but converted it for you.

I'd question the sound and video if it wwas gaming, but since it's not, that is a pretty damn good PC. Price doesn't seem so abd either.

And thanks for the conversion...saved me some time!

isnt the 9100 better than the 9200?

same price range

whats the pc gonna be used for?

Yep.

Main recommendations:

1.) Drop from the 3.0C to a 2.4C.
2.) Get plain (not HyperX) PC3200. Kingston's fine for a brand, though.
3.) Get a Seagate hard drive, they're quieter.
4.) Consider a GeForce4MX instead (with dual monitor support!). It won't be any slower, and it'll have somewhat better-behaving drivers.

if you can find a good deal on a used geforce4 ti that's probably the best value. but aside from that, the 9000 pro is the fastest of the budget 9000 series cards. then 9100, then 9200
