Deadpool... Anyone play yet?

I just noticed on steam this released the other day. I remember the teaser trailer awhile ago but then completely forgot about this. Has any [H] people played this yet and could chirp in here with their thoughts. Its $40, can't get the steam link right now for some reason.

I'm waiting for a sale. People's reactions seem mixed. From the videos I've seen it looks really stupid, but fun. Which is what I was expecting from it.
 
I will preface this by saying....I'm a VERY long term DeadPool fan.

Gameplay is Fair at best.
Commentary, Cutscenes, overall script etc. Its Dead on, I haven't laughed that much at a game....since ever.
 
Terrible reviews and mixed feedback at best. Wait for the quick bargain basement.
 
The combat is run of the mill spectacle fighting. Nothing to write home about, but it's not terrible.

The comedy and satire is what really makes the game.

Like I had said previously... I'm having an absolute blast with it. Is it $40 worth of fun, though? Maybe not.

I've only seen the trailers and I didn't laugh once. The comedy seems pretty stupid and would get old real quick. Plus I can't play and game that has Nolan North so prominent. I only hear Drake.

He was Merasmus in last year TF2 Halloween update :D

Nolan North has done Deadpool in other things and he does a great job of it. His persona really fits the character.

Humor is purely subjective, of course. Not everyone likes the same particular type of humor.
 
Maybe it's just me, but seeing how Uncharted is my favorite series ever I can honestly say that the only time I know it's Nolan is when he yells...other than that it definitely isn't Nathan Drake.

As far as the actual game goes it's definitely fun. Solid controls and what not. Combat isn't anything special but it works well and hasn't really bored me at all.
 
Got it for my PS3 the other day, been having a riot with it and almost a complete laughing fit throughout the whole thing.

I definitely would say play it, but hard to say if it is worth the $40.
 
It looks ok and I'm a huge wade fan but it just doesn't impress me. The combat just isn't what I imagine playing as wade would be. He's not wolverine he not just a bunch of devil may cry combo beat'm up moves. He's much more all over the place and the recent X-force series really showed the kind of depth wade has a character. This looks like they really could have fit in anybody. It looks more like contract work for Highmoon which really looks like all it does.
 
Looks like something off of Adultswim. In other words, its going to suck and not be funny.
 
I'm sure alot of people are waiting for a 7.50$ steam sale :O
 
Saw someone else play it. The humour in it is low-brow as you'd expect in a Deadpool game, but it totally fits the character. The fights in it are indeed not very spectacular and should not be why you play this game. The environments you play in do vary widely and liberally rip off/copy/pay homage to various other games and movies.

It's a silly little game, but definitely one of those guilty pleasures you just have to try once :)
 
One thing bad I can say about this game, and really the only thing that has pissed me off (hence me posting this) is that even when your abilities are maxed out the baddies with machine guns can MOW YOU DOWN IN NO TIME FLAT!

Even a single standard enemy with a machine gun can bring your health from 100% to 0% in mere seconds if they are shooting you while you are dealing with melee enemies. I literally just spend like 10 minutes taking out I don't know how many bad guys only to be killed in literally 2 seconds from some low-end grunt with a machine gun because I couldn't do anything to stop him.

Also, ISN'T DEADPOOL SUPPOSED TO BE INVINCIBLE?!?!?!
 
Alright, just beat the game. Besides my problem above the game was FREAKIN AWESOME! I wouldn't say $60 good as there isn't much to the game once you beat it and it isn't quite that long...but the experience was great. Definitely worth at least $30 in my opinion.

Highly recommended, even if you don't know who Deadpool is.
 
I bit on it, only played about an hour so far but I've enjoyed it. Even on consoles its not $60, nice to see a game come out at a more reasonable launch price.
 
Bump for a good game. The developers had fun with it and so will you. Stupid shoot em up with crass humor ftw.

Just finished Deadpool. Gameplay is unquestionably mediocre but god damn I don't remember laughing so hard playing a video game since Monkey Island 2 and Day of the Tentacle!
 
That trailer was just... what... the... fuck? My knowledge of Deadpool comes from the X-Men movie "Wolverine".
