Dead video card

my aunt got a xfx8600 a year or so ago_One day she heard a pop from here PC and didnt think anything of it, well 2 days ago it did it again, but this time it was louder.

damn.. that is a lot of blown caps.. ya could try replacing the caps.. but id contact XFX and see if you can RMA it..
 
Hard to tell from the pic, but does the fan still work? I've had similar cards where the fan dies and turns kinda brown like that from burning up inside.
 
alittle up date. My aunt told me the card worked fine even with a 1 or 2 bad caps, its not till the other caps went then it died..
 
Should've RMAed as soon as it blew caps. Still, XFX should take care of it.. and even if they don't, that's a $15 card, no great loss.

This appears to be fairly typical. My 7600GT has 3 blown caps and 1 swollen one out of seven and it still runs 2d apps just fine. It's only when I hop into a game I get into trouble :p
 
Update. XFX want the original sales invoice, which i dont have and my aunt dosnt have ... the card is less then a year old and they wont do shit with out original sales invoice..
 
Was it purchased online? If so, just login and find the receipt.
