Dead Rising Question

Im playing the game Dead Rising for the xbox 360. I am wondering how the save system works. In order to save the game you have to find a sofa or a restroom which obviously saves your status in the game. My question is, when I shut the game off and come back to it, it says new game 72 hour mode and starts me back off at the beginning but Im still at my current level and have all my skills. How do I start off where I saved the game or do I have to start off from the beginning each time I shut the game off. How does one go about getting through the game without having to play like 6+ hrs straight through at one time if thats the case.

Thanks

When you save, you choose where you save it (HDD, memory card, whatever).

Then when you boot up the game again, choose 72 hour mode. Then choose "load game", I believe it's called. Not "new game" or "start game" or whatever it's called.

Then you start again from where you saved. The game is meant to be replayed many times, which is why they do that where you can start over with your skills and level again so easily.

The middle of that game is ROUGH when you're low level.

Follow Rocketpig's advice. To help you get back up to where you were, know that orange juice and frozen vegetables give you a quickstep potion when blended. Creamer and OJ also give you quickstep, and there's a blender with infinite OJ in an upstairs diner near the safe area. Just have one on hand for health and traveling through the park quickly. Lets you get more done. I don't think there is a more powerful tip I can give beside the obviously gamebreaking weapon.

Correction, I just remembered: When you load your game, it doesn't say "load game". It has the date and time of your last save (in game time). Choose that to start where you left off.

Plan on starting the game over a few times. Try to rescue the first few survivors. Kill maybe the first few psychopaths, ignore the case files. Plan on doing those after you beat the game once. You might want to head to the parking lot on the west side of the park to grab a car to get easy PP by mowing over zombies in the tunnels. Try to get to level 20 as quickly as possible; that's when you stop being completely useless in the game.

Remember, the katana is your friend. You can find it in an antique store south of the warehouse (next section down) on the second floor. You can also find it in the knife shop next to the grocery store in the north plaza.

Your most useful weapons for zombie clearing are the katana, cleaver (never, ever pass these up), and to a lesser extent, the hunting knife. You can find cleavers and the most bountiful health restorer, wine, in the food court. Good thing is that the food court is generally sparsely populated, also.
