Dead PSU?

So I am playing Stalker and I go to the kitchen for a drink for a minute, when I come back my PC is off. I watch t.v. for a while and then try to turn it on but it doesn't do anything, I check to see if any of the mobo's lights are on but they aren't, so I figure something is wrong here and I am guessing its the PSU since I had replaced it two days ago for a more powerful and reliable unit. I switch to my old Xclio 450 PSU and it powers up. WTF my new, more powerful and reliable PSU burns out after two days.

I feel like I should switch back to the seasonic just to check for sure if it burned out before I RMA it. What should I do?

Well just try the PSU outside the case to see if it works. Connect something to it a fan a light tube whatever you have. To turn it on all you need to do is get a paperclip and jumber the Green wire of the 24 pin connector (towards the middle) with one of the black wires.

Just be careful not to confuse the wirse - Green with Black.

I have a electrical tape wrapped "fork" that I've cut down for this very purpose :)

I don't know if the green->black actually would put out enough power to hurt someone ( I don't think so) but I never short together two pieces of metal with another, unshielded, piece of metal .. but that's just me.

Well I decided to check again if it was truly dead and when I pushed the power button everything lit up and has been working perfectly for 8 hours.

Why would it shut down and not want to power up again, did it overheat?

Thanks for the help:)

Maybe it shorted out, and now it works again because the short is gone?
