I have this Plextor DVD burner that won't read about 95% of the discs I try in it, regardless of kind. I tried flashing the firmware back to 1.08, and then again back to the latest 1.09. No change in results either way. It's also out of warranty, unfortunately.

Are there any other tricks or utilities I could try to get it working again?

hmm, look like u are gonna have a "drive funeral" soon, might be a lens problem, try cleaning it (i won´t do much good though), i know it´s a long shot but try to uninstall your mobo chipset drivers, then try your drive out, and then u could also downgrade your mobo drivers (that helped me with a nforce mobo, in a problem similar as yours)

I'm thinking it's not a driver issue, as I've tried the drive in a handful of computers, and even with an external USB cage. I am afraid the funeral may be in order. I'm going to give it a few weeks of searching to find some utilities, but I'm not holding out much hope.

I had the exact same thing happen to my PX-716A ... infuriated me. Died a few days after the warranty expiring, too ...
