Dead Pixel Dread

With the recent crazy Dell deals on 2005 and 2405, I am really tempted to get a 2405, but the dead pixel dread is driving me insane! I mean what if mine has dead pixels, what if it had "backlight" issues...ARRGH!

Decisions, Decision...

OK, did purchase one today, $812 shipped! Now, how do I really test it? I have Dead Pixel Buddy and this site testing it on my current Dell E193FP and don't see any, does it mean I have good LCD Then? Crossing my finger for 2405!

My 2405 has a stuck-on pixel in the extreme lower right hand corner. Even so, the monitor has a great screen. It's bright, colors are sharp and vibrant, text is crisp and it's BIG! I'm not a gamer, so can't vouch for how well it displays the latest and greatest games, but I sure like this thing.

If you order but don't like a Dell product, I think you're allowed three weeks to return it for a refund. I doubt you'll do so with the 2405, though. Good luck.

i just got mine today, has one green pixel stuck on wonderin if i should call em
I would but I wouldn't use the dead pixel as an excuse.

Alot of people get no dead pixels.. I think From the looks of the 2405 threads..Of course theres an exception to the rule.. (and you can always ask for a replacement Dell is very good on this)

It's not like the Dell replacement policy hasn't been discussed a zillion times here. If you don't like it for any reason, return it within three weeks for a refund. And if you know how to speak the Phillipino native tongue, itsa plus. Otherwise, get ready for an ordeal:

Customer: I'd like to return this 2405 LCD monitor.
CSR: Yes sir, I can help you with that. How many monitors would you like to purchase? Do you wish to use the same credit card.
Customer: No....I'd like to return the monitor for a refund.
CSR: Hold please.

10 minutes later............

CSR: Thank you for holding. Is there anything else I can do for you? We will ship your monitor within 24 hours.
Customer: What?
CSR: Let me verify....One 2405 Dell LCD monitor to be shipped to.........
Customer: Wait, I said I want to *return* the monitor!
CSR: Hold please.

10 minutes later..........

CSR: Thank you for holding. Would you like to purchase the optional 3 year in-home service plan with your new Dimension desktop?
Customer: Whattttttt??????????????

You get the idea.

rofl, that's really sad if that's true. I'm sorry I can't help but laugh.

Actually, it is pretty on point. I'm getting sick of the terrible customer service some of the companies offer. It's very frustrating.

More and more are coming out with zero dead pixel policy... or like Dell it doesn't matter that they don't have one.

"Sir it's not uncoomon to have 2 dead pixels."
"Uh.... the colors are uneven."
"Ok.........."

^My real life occurence. Hey, satisfaction gauranteed should mean that. :D

edit: yeah, I had to call in twice or thrice (heavy accents and no comprende), but whatever.

heh, I went through 4 dell monitors and i had to settle for the 3rd one, since the 1st one had a red stuck pixel which was utterly unbearable, the 2nd one had a green stuck pixel which I could barely notice but had the shittest backlight, then the 3rd the sweetest backlight uniformity I've ever seen on this monitor however with a single green stuck pixel, and the 4th which happened to have the must utter dog crud house backlight problem I've ever seen! I mean how is it possible to have a circle patch of white on a black screen sticking out right infront of your face? Not to mention the 4th was Rev A01, and it looked like it had dust inside the panel since there was a cluster of pixels that looked dimmed out.

Anywho, I am writing on the 3rd not noticing the green pixel which is barely noticable, esp. when I have a dark color'd theme going on. Note though, Dell cracked onto my case quickly and said "It was rare to have so many backlight issued Monitors" and as I requested for the 4th the call centre guy wanted to send an 'Engineer' to my house to sus out the problem. I told them I had no time for this so called 'Engineer' and wanted the 4th sent, however he wouldnt do so, so I gave him a hard bargain, send me the 4th and I will call it quits. And so I did and I just realised I wasted a lot of my time sending/waiting for the couriers to pick it up, not to mention 30min minimum to 1hr max on the phone for them to send me a replacement.

Then don't buy from them.

I stoped my corporate IT purchaes, personal purcharses, and more from Dell untill they change.

There is other vendors and other options. Don't like the way a vendor is conductiong buisness stop doing buisness with them. They will change if enough people take this approach.
