Dead Pixel? Dimmed Pixel? Or Something Else?

I bought the VX922 and it arrived about a week ago. Everything's been fine. When I first set it up, I ran Dead pixel buddy and I didn't notice ANYTHING. No dead pixels or any other sort of anomaly.

But last night, I noticed a slightly darker speck on my monitor. At first I thought it was just dirt, so I tried to clean it off. It didn't go away. Could this be a dead pixel or a dimmed pixel? Is that possible? Like, when I look at it, I can see it very clearly, but it isn't a speck of black. On a completely white image, the pixel(s) look gray instead of white.

When I look from normal viewing distance, the speck is obvious (but not black, doesn't look dead exactly.) and is not something stuck onto the surface of my screen. But when I try to see which pixel it is exactly by getting up close, all it does is make it much more difficult to determine which pixel it is.

Has anyone else had this problem or know of a way to determine what is going on? I would take a picture and post it, but every picture I have taken does NOT show what I see.

Could be a stuck pixel...i'm no expert.

Anyway, I bought a VX922 recently and I had to go through three to find one with no dead or stuck pixels. When I got my first one I saw the dead pixel right off the bat and I had a problem with the DVI input(or most likely DVI cable) turning my entire display orange. I called ViewSonic and the guy asked what color the bad pixel was and I said orange so he said it's not dead but stuck. He recommended I try this to fix the stuck pixel:

I wasn't into trying to fix something on a brand new monitor and having an orange screen didn't help at all.

I wound up just bringing that original VX922 back and I tried another one in the store which had a bad pixel, and then I opened a third and that's the one I brought home.

ON A TN PANEL IF ITS DEAD IT SHOWS UP AS A WHITE PIXEL RIGHT NOT BLACK
I JUST WAS WONDERING CUZ IN THE JSCREENFIX IT SAYS BLACK PIXELS ARE DEAD AND I HAVE A BLACK PIXEL ON MY SCREEN BUT I WAS WONDERING IF THIS COULD FIX IT

Nice lack of punctuation and overuse of capitalization there. I'm going to try to borrow a better camera to try to take a picture of what I'm seeing so I can get some feedback.

You could try running this: http://udpix.free.fr/

I've got a dead pixel in the upper left of my Samsung 204B and UDPixel shows a stuck pixel a bit lower than the dead one.

All those programs will do is flash random colors on your screen in an attempt to work a stuck pixel out.

Note: I said “stuck pixels”. If a pixel is dead, it’s dead.

well my next question is on a TN panel if the pixel is black is it dead or just stuck on black ?

From the site that I linked to:

''Stuck pixels sometimes start working again with time unless they appear black on a white background, these are known as dead pixels."

It may not even be a dead or stuck pixel.

It could be a defect, such as dust trapped somewhere in the layers of the lcd.

i dunno iam confused i thought tn panels showed dead pixels as white

You can see the area in question just below the green button. This picture was originally taken at a high resolution.

This part is the image in it's original resolution. I just decided to cut out the rest of the picture in the interest of saving space and the previous picture clearly depicts what I am seeing as I sit at my screen. This picture gives us an idea of what is going on in the pixel itself.

So what is this? Dead pixel? Stuck?

I've tried running a few programs and videos that change colors rapidly and so far it hasn't helped. I've had one running for almost 6 hours straight and nothing has changed. And one thing to remember is that this was NOT here when I first opened the box and pulled the LCD out. The first thing I did after turning my computer on with this monitor was to run dead pixel buddy, which showed no problems whatsoever.

mine is a dark black pixel tiny square in the top right hand corner its impossible to during games and stuff only noticeable on white or beige backgrounds

but i was just wondering if it was stuck
it doesn't look like yours just darker square

It looks like you have some type of foreign material stuck between the backlight and the lcd causing a shadow.

MINE LOOKS WAY WORSE THAN YOURS

mine is a black square more noticable than yours in the top right hand corner
i dunno you think circuit city would let me return it for another one
it hasn't been 30 days yet but getting close .
