So, I built this computer for gaming...
P4 3.04GHz 533MHz FSB
2-512MB Corsair RAM PC3200
80GB ATA133 Maxtor HDD
nVidea FX5600 (I think)
It was working great for a couple of months, no problems at all.
Last night, while playing City of Heroes, it just quit, no warning or symtoms of any kind. It just shut off, and will not turn on again...no sign of life at all.
Now, my instinct is that this is a power supply problem (at least I hope it is). The PSU is a Powmax that came with my case. I will be getting a new PSU asap.
But, if I'm wrong and the PSU wasn't the problem? Could someone please post some tips on where to look next?
Also, I'm looking at new PSU's on newegg, and I have a rather n00bish question. Many of the PSU's I'm looking at have fans on top, but my case doesn't have a vent above the PSU area. Can I install one of the PSU's safely?
Thanks in advance for any help
