I know there have been thousands, maybe even millions of similar threads created in regards to pondering whether a PSU is dead, and I hate to tell you, but this one is no different.

I just want to make sure whether it is a PSU/CPU/MOBO/ETC. issue before I decide anything.

You can check out my hardware in my sig, but here is the lowdown:

420 OZC Modstream PSU
1 GB of Mushkin Ram
MSI Neo4 Plat
AMD 3000+ Skt 939
eVGA 7800gt
1 Dvd-Rom
1 Floppy
1 Wireless Card
1 Slot Fan

As of last night everything was working. I decided to do a bit of cleaning (getting rid of dust, securing cables, reseating ram, etc.) As soon as I get back home tonight it refuses to turn on.

I started unplugging the video card, floppy, and dvd-rom drive. Still nothing (no fans, lights, etc).

I'm going to remove everything except for my ram and cpu and try running it again.

Anyone else have any opinions or suggestions?

Thank You

Sounds to me like you knocked something loose in the process of doing your cleaning. Is the mobo power indicator LED lighting up when the PSU is powered up?

Nothing, and I mean nothing spurts to life.

No lights, fans, drives, etc.

It's as though the computer is not plugged in.

Most motherboards have at least one LED chip on them to show that the PSU has power. If that's not lit up (no matter what you're doing) then you've possibly pulled the ATX cable loose or the PSU is dead.

To find out for certain pull the ATX plug loose and jumper the PSU with a paperclip from the green wire to a black wire (on the ATX plug) and see if the PSU spins up at least.

Make sure to pull the 2+2 plug from the mobo when you do this so as to not send power to the CPU without powering up the mobo. I don't know as that would hurt anything but better safe than sorry.

Alright, well I've basically done all the troubleshooting I know how to, including "jumping it" and all is a no go.

I plan just picking up another PSU tommorrow and RMA'ing the one I have now.

Thanks for the replies

Confirmed: MY PSU is dead. I ended up picking up the 520w Modstream instead and sure enough she is alive and kicking.

Now I just hope OCZ goes easy with my RMA.
