I had the power supply in my file server die recently, and it appears as though it killed the mobo, or did it?

I replaced the PSU with Antec Earthwatts 380, and while the power light on the motherboard comes on and stays lit, when I press the power switch, the CPU starts for a split second, and then nothing. I swapped processors between my main rig and the file server to verify that the CPU wasn't damaged (it wasn't), and I've also verified that the RAM is still good. I even tried the mobo in a different case to make sure that there wasn't a problem with the power switch on the case, but no cigar.

I'm pretty sure I'll have to buy a new mobo, but it seems odd that the only thing affected was the power switch connector. Any input before I pull the trigger and order the new board?

Unplug the power push the power button, then push it again hold it for about 10 seconds, then push it 19 times at a moderate pace, then plug the power back in.

No joke I am serious. Can't guarantee it will work for you but it did for me once. Let me know how it goes. It used to be a common trick back in the day. I have no idea how it works or why it works but sometimes it really really does.

Good Luck

P.S.
It is important that the power was plugged into the system and then disconnected if it was just sitting for a while and not connected and you attempt this it may be even less likely too work.
